    Student Safety

The idea of sending your child to a residential camp for the summer can be a big step and one that brings a certain degree of anxiety for a parent. Student welfare and safety is our priority throughout the summer, therefore by taking care of these aspects of camp, parents can relax in the thought of their child's safety and students can experience all the fun, action-packed, unique activities Active Coding Academies have to offer!

The Staff: ACA prides itself on providing a memorable camp experience in an unforgettable setting but the key to making this happen is finding the right staff for the role. We set out to find enthusiastic, confident, professional individuals who are willing to pass on their expertise and passion for teaching. The camp atmosphere requires a special kind of person. Someone who is open-minded, positive and able to thrive in social situations, as well as being able to communicate effectively and inspire children. These deciding factors are what Active Coding Academies look for in a worthy member of staff. We aim to have a minimum of a 1:5, staff member to camper ratio which ensures diligence is in place for every child.

Recruitment: The selection process is carried out rigorously in order to filter through applicants to find the right person for the role. Each applicant is required to submit two references from previous employers and take part in a phone interview prior to a final face-to-face interview. Background checks are also carried out in the form of a police check or PVG certificate. We recruit staff from all over the UK and further afield, allowing a diverse collection of backgrounds and life experience.

Training: In preparation for the summer, staff attend an orientation to acquaint themselves with the surroundings, equipment and structure of the programme. Time is allocated for instructors to plan progressive lesson plans and allowing them to adapt to any changes throughout the summer. Directors, scheduling staff and support team members can prepare logistically for the daily operations of camp life.

Around the clock care: We provide a 24 hour, dedicated student welfare team to look out for students’ needs or to resolve any issues while kids are away from home. Working closely with our admissions team who are familiar with each student’s background already, they work together to ensure every aspect of the summer programme goes to plan and nothing is left uncovered. An on site 24 hour medical centre is also in operation, led by qualified nurses to help with every aspect of our students’ health from allergies and medication, to bumps and bruises. Parents are notified immediately of any illness, injury or homesickness.
